Our History

Professor Chitta Mitra (IIM Calcutta), encouraged by Mr. Tarun Gupta (then MD of GSK Family Care), founded the organization in 1977 ‘to study the medical practitioner’s inclination’ in India. Till 1983, GSK was the sole subscriber of C MARC: CPR, post which other pharmaceutical firms began adopting C MARC’s services, along with which C MARC continued to expand its panel and regional coverage for deeper Rx insights.

As of July 2022, C MARC continues to serve major pharmaceuticals operating in India. With ~10,000 prescribers part of its panel.

The Institute of Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Management and Research (IPHMR) was established in the mid-2000s by C MARC to serve as one of the best sources for managerial talent in pharmaceutical and healthcare management. IPHMR was established as an extended expression of C MARC as a committed institution for providing specialized human resources as future leaders of the industry. Till date, the initiative has produced over 100 professionals who continue to be active professionals serving various managerial roles across the healthcare domain.
