Professor Chitta Mitra, was the Chairman & Managing Director of C MARC, the research based management consultancy organization floated in 1977 at the instance of GLAXO INDIA for their exclusive use of research based consultancy services : Continuous Prescription Research (CPR). 1983 onwards, C MARC has been offering syndicated CPR service to healthcare industry in India tailored to suit individual user organization requirement, and providing decision input for effective strategic and futuristic intervention in the healthcare market.
Prof. Mitra passed away on 3rd January, 2012. Today, C MARC stands as a testimony to his foresight and belief.
Prof. Mitra was a pioneer and instrumental in setting up C MARC. Over the years, the organization has built excellent reputation and credibility through the tireless efforts and motivation of Prof. Mitra. Today, C MARC is known as a market leader for providing unique and high quality consultancy services in the field of pharma and healthcare sectors.
Professor Mitra was a doyen who was both an outstanding academician and practitioner of Market Research and will be remembered by everyone with great fondness in the pharma industry for years to come for his immense contribution through offering research based consultancy services to the industry.
Professor Chitta Mitra, former Senior Professor of Marketing at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) and Visiting Professor of Harvard Business School & MIT, USA, was better known as a teacher and a researcher. He was the founder of Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB).
As the World Bank supported Visiting Scholar to Harvard Business School (HBS) in 1976-77, Professor Mitra developed close links with top management and marketing academicians in the US and was known for his pioneering contributions in management sciences. Professor Mitra had close links with several management schools in India as an expert in Marketing.
Professor Mitra was also the Founder & Chairman of Institute of Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Management and Research (IPHMR), an institute promoted by C MARC, committed for developing and providing specialized human resources for the healthcare industry and focused on the welfare of the society.
