Our history
Professor Chitta Mitra with the support of Dr. Tarun Gupta,
the then Managing Director of GSK Family Care, established the organisation
in 1977 ‘to study the medical practitioners’ inclination in India’.
In 1980, the proprietary firm MARC was converted to C MARC (India) Private Limited
[Center for Marketing & Advertising Research Consultancy].
Mr. Bhupatinath Mitra was appointed as the Chairman,
Mrs. Annapurna Mitra became the Managing Director and Mr. Chinmay Mitra was appointed as an Executive.
Until 1983, GSK was the exclusive subscriber of C MARC’s flagship service - Continuous Prescription Research (CPR).
Subsequently, other pharmaceuticals began engaging with C MARC’s services, leading to an expansion of its panel and
regional reach, thereby enhancing its capacity for in-depth prescription insights.
As of 2024, C MARC continues to serve major pharmaceuticals operating in India.
With ~9,000 prescribers part of its panel.
